We are excited about our third year of camp for boys and girls ages 5 to 12 this summer!  Even though we have some big goals this year, our plans almost always take us down the path of most fun! While centering on play, our counselors will focus their attention on helping the campers emotionally regulate throughout the days and weeks.  In fact, “You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit!” is the first chant we’ll learn as a group.  Children have shown to exhibit higher capacities for learning when they can understand and regulate their emotional realities.  And what better way to contact your emotions than when you’re playing and encountering challenges?

What are parents saying about last year’s Summer Camp at Church at Stony Hill!

“My son loved the camp!  Packed full of activities.  The counselors really engaged the kids!  Would highly recommend!” ~ Patricia W. “My son said his favorite thing at camp was the Scavenger Hunt field trip that he went on to Hinckley Park.  He also really enjoyed the water balloon fights!” ~ Nicole S.

We have 4 camps this year – Movie Madness, Science Week, Sports Week & Art Week!

MOVIE MADNESS – “LE FILM”

JUNE 10TH TO JULY 5TH  -  Movie Premier on July 7th!

This camp was such a hit last year that it is back by popular demand!

(Sign up for individual weeks or the entire 4-week camp!)

Our campers will be learning about making movies.  Step into Stonywood as we learn about film-making.  Throughout this 4 weeks our campers will create an actual black and white silent film.  No, we don’t expect your kids to be quiet at camp (quite the opposite!) but we won’t be hearing their voices on film.  Instead, we will see their excitement show through their creativity on and off screen. Last year’s film called, “ROCKS!” was a huge hit.  It is the story of humans and aliens learning to live together and how they find laughter brings color to both of their worlds.  Please check out last years film below, ROCKS!, (THE MOVIE), a Stonywood production.

This Summer’s project is in the vein of classic Chaplin movies, “LE FILM” is a silent, black & white look into the drama and comedy of making a movie.  Follow our young characters as they build sets, direct the action, face conflict and deal with disappointment.  In the end, these young characters (campers) will develop a strong sense of what it means to be part of something larger than themselves.

Our Stonywood movie will be shown on Sunday, July 7, 2013 in a fabulous – NOT TO BE MISSED- RED CARPET PREMIER! Come and see what your child has accomplished on the Big Screen!

Sign up for 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks.  Whichever option you choose, you are invited to participate in the movie premier on July 7th! Week 1 Building Our Silent Set – June 10th to June 14th Week 2 – Act 1, Scenes 1 & 2, Preview – June 17th to June 21st Week 3 – Act 2, Scenes 1 & 2 – June 24th to June 28th Week 4 - Act 3, Scenes 1 & 2, Editing – July 1st to July 5th

NEW THIS YEAR – 3 one-week day camps that all work together!

Does your child like SCIENCE? How about SPORTS?  Maybe, ART?  We are sure that your son or daughter will have a great time at our Science, Sports & Art themed camps.  Sign them up for their favorite or sign them up for all three and see how Science, Sports & Art work together and overlap each other – you may be surprised how much they do! Week 5 – Science Week is July 15th to July 19th: We will spend a week exploring our world thru science.

Week 6 – Sports Week is July 22nd to July 26th: It will be a fun-filled week with a new sport each day including flag football, basketball, softball, volley ball and field day!

Week 7 – Art Week is July 29th to August 2nd: Try your hand at a wide variety of artistic endeavors.  We will be studying artists from Davinci to Disney and there will be plenty of hands-on instruction.
